Ram of Amun. One of two statues which stood
at the eastern end of the 1st Court of the Temple of King
Taharqa (Khunefertemra, ruled
c.690-664 bc) at Kawa, where they flanked the entrance to the Hypostyle
Hall. Taharqa completed the temple in the 10th year of his reign and dedicated
it mainly to Amun-Re to whom the ram was sacred. Between the knees is a small
standing statuette representing the king. Around the base is carved his royal
titulary. From Kawa, Sudan. 25th Dynasty.
